Escaping his dangerous past, former British rock star Justin “The Phoenix” Taylor flees as far away from home as possible to Australia. A marked man with nothing left but his guitar and his talent, Justin is desperate to start over yet still live off the grid. Loneliness and the need to feel a connection to the London pastor who’d saved his life draws Justin to Ella’s Barista Art Coffee Shop—the famous and trendy Melbourne establishment belonging to Pastor Jim Anderson’s niece. Intrigued by the bearded stranger who looks vaguely familiar, Ella Anderson wearies of serving him his regular flat white espresso every morning with no more than a greeting for conversation. Ella decides to discover his secrets, even if it requires coaxing him with her elaborate latte art creations. And muffins. Justin gradually begins to open up to Ella but fears his past will collide with their future. When it does, Ella must decide whether they have a future at all.

This is a quick, easy read from one of my favorite authors. One of the main characters Justin struggles with overcoming the consequences of drug addiction, trusting God for a fresh start, while still mourning the death of his best friend. One of my favorites lines is: “Where would he be without the comfort of the poet’s words, or the wisdom of the king?” It was fun to learn new words like “busker” and to feel like I was visiting Australia.

I have read several books by this author, and while this one was short it was very powerful! Facing recovery from addiction is difficult on it's own but add in being in the run for your life and falling in love well, you get the idea!

I fell in love with both characters and wouldn't mind seeing them again in a new book with an update on their life!
This story transported me to Melbourne, Australia, and is a beautiful love story combined with some suspense that certainly kept me reading. Marion has written a wonderful story that I thoroughly enjoyed about a former rock star finding his second chances at life and love through God's grace and forgiveness.i was given a copy of this book by the author. A favorable review was not required, and the opinions expressed are my own.
Justin is struggling with the life he used to have. Pastor Jim is a amazing man. When he suggested that Justin should go to Australia and meet his niece he said no. Once Justin gets to Australia he finds the coffee shop Ella owns. Justin can't stop going to the shop to see Ella. When Ella's Uncle Jim gets hurt their lives will change. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You will feel God working throughout this whole story. This book deserves a higher rating than a five star review.
I enjoyed reading this book, as I do all Marion Ueckermann's books. I did find this time I sometimes had a problem keeping track of the various events, characters and their ever-changing relationships. However, the plot is good and the story moves forward at a fast clip.

I especially loved the glimpse into Australian life. I had no idea it was possible to make good money working as a "busker." The main character, Justin, used to be a professional guitarist but he made a mess of his life. The story tells of how, with God's grace, he was able to get back on track once more, albeit in a new country.

I was given a copy of this book by the author. I am not under any obligation to give a favorable review, and the opinions expressed are my own. However, if you enjoy a story of suspense and romance intertwined, you will enjoy this book. It is a good read.
